10-year-old Veronica is the only survivor of Russian attack on Vuhledar shelter

On April 9, 2022, a Russian tank opened fire at a nine-story building’s shelter in Vuhledar, Donetsk region. Veronica, 10, is the only survivor. The girl’s father, grandmother, uncle, and aunt were killed.

Veronica, found under the rubble, received severe wounds. A projectile fragment got stuck in her head, her left thumb was torn off, and her right arm was partially paralyzed. She has undergone rehabilitation in a Lviv hospital.
