A total of 17,000 volunteers have already applied to join the ranks of the Offensive Guard — assault brigades that will help liberate Ukrainian territories from Russian invaders. “About 10,500 persons submitted applications via the website, and 6,500 persons came via administrative services centers,” Ukrainian Internal Affairs Minister Ihor Klymenko told Ukrainian television.

In his words, there are 600 requests from women. They can be involved in different units, including medical, logistical and intelligence ones.

According to Klymenko, the average age of applicants is 33. They will sign a contract for three years.

“We have many patriotic young people who are willing to defend our country with weapons in their hands,” Klymenko added, Ukrinform reports.
