42 countries applying to ICC regarding Russian crimes in Ukraine

If the International Criminal Court (ICC) recognizes the war crimes of Russian troops, those involved in them can be detained in any country that recognizes the jurisdiction of this court, the Minister of Justice of Ukraine Denys Maliuska said.

“All perpetrators of crimes against humanity and genocide are potentially persons who are already under investigation, as 42 countries have already filed applications and supported such an investigation by the ICC. Those found guilty by the court will receive punishment in the form of, for example, long-term imprisonment,” Maliuska explained, the press service of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine reports on Facebook.

He stressed that in the event of an ICC verdict, the diplomatic passports of Russian political and military leaders, most likely, will not help them – they will be detained, transferred to The Hague, and imprisoned.
