430 meter-long blue-yellow flag connected the left- and right-bank parts of Kyiv to show the unity of Ukrainians

On August 28, 2022, as part of the “United Ukraine” art campaign, Ukrainians symbolically connected the left and right banks of the Dnipro River with a 430-meter-long blue-yellow Ukrainian flag. It was unfurled along the Park Pedestrian Bridge on Trukhaniv Island in Kyiv. The temporarily displaced residents of Mariupol, Melitopol, and other cities of Ukraine took part in the campaign.

“This campaign is very symbolic. Unfurling the flag of Ukraine and uniting the banks of the Dnipro shows our unity in the struggle for the freedom and independence of Ukraine. We demonstrate to the whole world once again that the territory of Ukraine is indivisible and inviolable, that Kherson, Mariupol, Melitopol, Donetsk, Luhansk, and Crimea are Ukraine!” said Oleksandr Tkachenko, Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.
