7-year-old Zhenia, who survived after the Russian shelling of a residential building in Kyiv on June 26, 2022, met with her rescuer

Employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine came to the Kyiv hospital to visit a 7-year-old girl, Zhenia, who was injured in a Russian missile attack on a residential building in Kyiv on June 26, 2022.

Photos of the rescue of the little girl went viral all over the world. Her dad was killed in the shelling, and her mom is also in the hospital with multiple injuries.

Among the stones and the rubble of the building, rescuers from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine found not only a girl with her mother but also something that can remind them — life goes on, and no army in the world can take away the future from a child. They found her gymnast costume, as Zhenia used to do rhythmic gymnastics.

Zhenia’s rescuer — Artur — decided to hand it over to a little girl personally. He visited her in the hospital and presented the costume. Zhenia gave him a drawing instead.
