75-year-old Japanese man opened a cafe with free food in Kharkiv

75-year-old Japanese volunteer Fuminori Tsuchiko opened a cafe in Kharkiv to provide Ukrainians with free food, Ukrinform reports.

Fuminori Tsuchiko first came to Ukraine in January 2022 as a tourist. When the full-scale war started, he was in Warsaw and saw thousands of Ukrainian refugees needing help, so he decided to return to Ukraine.

In May 2022, he came to Kharkiv and, for some time, lived at the metro station, spending his own money on food and necessary things for Kharkiv residents. Later, he sold his house in Japan and moved to Kharkiv permanently.

Fuminori has opened a cafe with free food for Ukrainians; he maintains it through donations.

The Japanese volunteer says that he is most happy to see children in his cafe. “I want people to smile,” Fuminori Tsuchiko says.
