98 Polish police officers spent five months in Ukraine demining territories and defused 2,000 explosive devices

From October 2022 until February 2023, almost 100 Polish officers and two service dogs took part in demining of the Kyiv region. They helped Ukrainian sappers to clean areas and facilities of dangerous and explosive objects left by Russians.

Polish Police’s official statement informs that during the operation, Polish officers revealed nearly 2,000 pieces of dangerous and explosive materials (mines, grenades, artillery shells, ammunition, etc.) and almost 700 kg of combat remains. In total, over 43,500 square meters of territory were cleaned.

According to the Polish media, it was a top-secret operation. Out of all members of the ATLAS network (association of police tactical units of European countries), only Poland responded to Ukraine’s request and volunteered to help Ukraine demine its territories.
