Actors from the bombed-out Mariupol Drama Theater gave their first performance in Uzhhorod

On July 16, 2022, the actors of the Mariupol Theater, bombed by Russia, gave their first performance since the tragedy happened. They performed a play about Ukrainian poet Vasyl Stus, “The Cry of the Nation,” on the stage of a local theater in Uzhhorod, Ukrinform reports.
The date of the premiere was not chosen by chance — on this day, four months ago, the Russians dropped a powerful aerial bomb on the Mariupol Theater.
“Therefore, exactly four months after that, with the premiere of the play about Stus, we announced ourselves to the whole world: we are alive,” said the Mariupol Theater director Liudmyla Kolosovych. The theater plans a tour to Poland, France, and Slovakia with this performance.
