All children, women and elderly are evacuated from Azovstal
Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk reported that all women, children, and the elderly were evacuated from the Azovstal in Mariupol, where many civilians were hiding from the Russian shelling.
“This part of the Mariupol humanitarian operation has been completed,” she said.
Azov, the Ukrainian military regiment still at Azovstal in Mariupol, told Ukrainska Pravda that the Russians attacked on May 6, during a pre-agreed ceasefire, set to evacuate civilians. Russian troops killed 3 and injured 6 Ukrainian soldiers during the evacuation of civilians from Azovstal.
Defenders from the Azov regiment are besieged by Russian troops. Ukrainian activists and politicians urge world leaders to organize a corridor for their withdrawal from the territory of the Azovstal plant.
