Allies should help Ukraine enable a transition from Soviet-era to NATO doctrines, equipment and training to achieve interoperability with NATO countries

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg hopes that allies will send a strong signal of support for Ukraine during the upcoming NATO Summit in Vilnius.

“I expect Allies will agree on a strategic multi-year assistance program. To enable Ukraine to transition from Soviet-era to NATO doctrines, equipment and training. And to achieve interoperability with NATO Allies,” said Stoltenberg during the meeting with Portuguese Prime Minister Antonio Costa.

Stoltenberg also reiterated that “NATO will stand with Ukraine for as long as it takes” and expressed confidence that “Ukrainian forces have the capabilities they need to retake occupied land.”
