American family with Ukrainian roots raise almost $1 million for Ukraine thanks to blue-yellow candles
American family with Ukrainian roots raised almost $1 million for Ukraine. Voice of America tells their story.
Shop Door County Candle Co. was founded by a second-generation Ukrainian, Christiana (Gorchynsky) Trapani. When the full-scale war started, she began making candles with blue and gold wax, the colors of the Ukrainian flag. Christiana’s family helped her to produce candles.
All the profits from selling the Ukraine candle are donated to a Ukrainian nonprofit.
