Bulgarian Parliament recognizes the 1932-1933 Holodomor as genocide of the Ukrainian people

On Feb. 1, 2023, the Bulgarian Parliament voted to recognize the 1932-1933 Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people.
“This step commemorates millions of Holodomor victims and restores historical justice. Bulgaria’s gesture of solidarity will always be remembered in Ukraine,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on Twitter and thanked Bulgaria for the decision.
The man-made famine — the Holodomor — was arranged by the Soviet authorities in 1932-1933. More than 17 countries have already recognized the Holodomor as genocide.
