Canada recognized the deportation of Crimean Tatars as genocide

The House of Commons of Canada unanimously voted to condemn the Soviet Union’s mass deportation of Crimean Tatars from the peninsula in 1944, which Russia continues to deny, announced the Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada, Yulia Kovaliv.
From now on, May 18 will be marked every year in Canada as the Crimean Tatar Deportation (“Sürgünlik”) Memorial Day.
