CBS to update documentary about Western weapon supplies to Ukraine after criticism from Ukrainian officials

American broadcasting network CBS will update a film about Western weapons supplies to Ukraine. A documentary “Arming Ukraine” stated that only 30% of Western arms supplies ultimately reach the frontline.

The statement was based on the quote of the founder of nonprofit Blue/Yellow, Jonas Ohman, who said in late April 2022 that only around 30% of military aid was reaching its final destination.

Recently, Ohman explained his comment in the film on Facebook:

“When it is stated in a comment that ‘30% reaches the frontline,’ this refers to a general assessment by Blue/Yellow of the efficiency of the Western aid effort at that time. In no way is it suggested that the support is being ‘sold on the black market or stolen.'”

CBS tweeted on August 8, 2022, that the documentary will be updated to reflect new information and air at a later date.

CBS film sparked outrage in Ukraine. Ukrainian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, called on the network to conduct an internal investigation.

“You have misled a huge audience by sharing unsubstantiated claims and damaging trust in supplies of vital military aid to a nation resisting aggression and genocide”, Kuleba wrote on Twitter.
