Czechs donated almost $1 million to Ukraine within the initiative in memory of the Soviet 1968 invasion
Czech citizens donated almost $1 million to Ukraine within the flashmob “Let’s recalculate Ukrainian military 1968 CZK”, reports the Embassy of Ukraine in Prague. The initiative was dedicated to memorial events on the 1968 invasion of Czechoslovakia by Soviet-led troops.
Within the flashmob, the Czechs were using a special payment code to donate 1,968 crowns ($80) to an account set up by Ukraine’s embassy in the Czech Republic to collect funds.
“More than 14 thousand people took part in the action, who transferred 24.2 million Czech crowns to the embassy’s charitable account, which roughly equals 1 million US dollars,” stated Ukraine’s Embassy in Prague.
On this money military material for the Defense Forces of Ukraine will be purchased.
