Dealing with war crimes: comprehensive online platform was created to help victims of sexual violence amid war

Sexual violence is one of the weapons used against the civilian population in military conflicts in various countries. It is a war crime, a crime against humanity, and an act of genocide. Hundreds of women, men, and children suffered from it during the full-scale war in Ukraine.

“Dali ye” (from Ukrainian Stepping Forward) is an information platform created by the Mental Health for Ukraine (MH4U) project in partnership with One Health consulting agency.

A person who suffered from sexual violence during the war can now find all the necessary information about how and where to get medical, psychological, and legal help within one platform.

Both concept and visual identity of the project were tenderly nurtured to communicate support, compassion, and assistance to those who have been through this experience to get on the road to recovery in “stepping forward.”

Elements of traditional Ukrainian embroidery ornaments are used in the visual identity of the project to show that assistance provided on the platform helps to tie the person back together and show the path forward.

A separate part of the platform is devoted to the value of the testimonies of people who survived sexual violence during the war. The relevant authorities are already collecting evidence so that criminals receive their punishment. And it is the testimony of people who went through it or witnessed such a crime that is of the greatest importance.
