Emergency shutdown was activated at the Rivne, South Ukraine, and Khmelnytskyi NPPs

According to the Energoatom nuclear energy company, an emergency shutdown was activated at the Rivne, South Ukrainian, and Khmelnytskyi NPPs, causing all reactors to be automatically disconnected due to a decrease in frequency in Ukraine’s energy grid as result of Russian missile strikes.

“The NPPs are currently in project mode, with no generation into the grid,” the company said.

Energoatom confirmed that the NPP energy supply will restart as soon as Ukraine’s energy grid’s operation is normalized. All indicators remain normal, and the radiation background at the NPP sites and nearby regions has not altered.
