Energy sector’s losses from the war have reached $2 billion

The losses of the energy industry from the Russian invasion in Ukraine have reached $2 billion as of the end of March, German Galushchenko, Minister of Energy of Ukraine reported. This figure takes into account not only the value of assets, but also unproduced electricity and lost potential profit from its sale.
Galushchenko confirmed that Ukraine has lost control over spent nuclear fuel storage facilities. However, the government plans to build a new central storage facility, which will be similar to the one at Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant.
