English version of “Kobzar” — a book by prominent Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko is now in the UK parliamentary library

Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament Ruslan Stefanchuk donated an English version of “Kobzar” to the library of the UK Parliament. “Kobzar” is the first collection of poems by Taras Shevchenko — an outstanding Ukrainian poet, writer, artist, and public figure. “Kobzar” was published when Shevchenko was 26. The book was written in Ukrainian, then repressed, and had a thousand copies. After becoming widely popular, “Kobzar” was sold out in two weeks. The highest legislative body of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland will now keep one of the symbols of Ukrainian culture — the first collection of poetry by Taras Shevchenko.
