Finland to help transport Ukrainian grain to Africa
Finland will support the grain shipments of the World Food Programme (WFP) from Ukraine to Somalia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland reports.
“The countries of the Horn of Africa are particularly dependent on grain imports from Russia and Ukraine, which is why Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has such a devastating impact on the region. Finland is allocating €15.7 million in humanitarian assistance to the region. From that sum, nearly €7 million will be channeled through the WFP to help facilitate the transport of Ukrainian grain to Somalia,” the statement says.
