First humanitarian shipment from the “Grain from Ukraine” initiative arrived in Ethiopia
The first shipment from the “Grain from Ukraine” initiative arrived at the Ethiopian Port of Doraleh on Saturday, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on his social media.
“On November 15, 2022, we launched the humanitarian program “Grain From Ukraine” to help people who are the most vulnerable to the acute food crisis. Today, the first vessel arrived at Doraleh Port carrying a humanitarian cargo of 25,000 tons of wheat for Ethiopia. We ship food. We ship hope,” Zelenskyy said.
The effort, which aims to send 60 ships with food around the world before the first half of next year, comes in addition to the Black Sea Grain Initiative launched in August 2022.
