First time in 30 years: Minister of Finance of Ukraine elected to chair the boards of World Bank and IMF in 2023

The shareholders of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank elected Ukrainian Finance Minister Serhii Marchenko as the next chair of the boards of governors of both institutions in 2023, reported Reuters.

The decision was taken unanimously. Ukraine received the presidency for the first time in 30 years of membership in the World Bank and the IMF.

“The new status will allow increasing the efficiency of cooperation with international financial organizations and countries that are members of the World Bank and the IMF,” stated Serhii Marchenko.
