First train from Kyiv arrives in liberated Kherson after 8 months of occupation

The first train to Kherson departed from Kyiv on Friday evening, November 18, 2022, just a week after the city had been liberated from Russian invaders.

The city was under Russian occupation for more than eight months. There were about 200 passengers on board. The train’s carriages were painted in eclectic designs by Ukrainian artists, and the tickets were sold as part of a charity project. The train arrived in Kherson on Saturday morning.

“Like this train, we will return everything to Kherson for a normal life!” Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Kyrylo Tymoshenko wrote on Telegram.
