“For thirty years, Germans lectured Ukrainians about fascism. When fascism actually arrived, Germans funded it, and Ukrainians died fighting it” Timothy Snyder, American author and historian

Yale history professor Levin and writer Timothy Snyder have criticized Germany for its hesitation to abandon Russian energy. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has previously criticized Germany for not restricting Russian energy imports either. He described energy payments as “blood money”.
Germany is one of the most skeptical European countries when it comes to blocking energy supplies from Russia. Minister of Finance of Germany Christian Lindner told the BBC that his country was working to implement an embargo on Russian energy, but he preferred using sanctions that “hurt [Putin] more than us”. Ukraine insists that sanctions against Russia’s energy sector can stop the Russian war machine, that kills thousands of innocent civilians in Ukraine.
