France to help demine Chernihiv region

France will help Ukraine to demine the Chernihiv region.

Deputy Head of the President’s Office of Ukraine, Kyrylo Tymoshenko, stated following the meeting with representatives of the French Embassy in Ukraine.

“The French government is ready to help, both in direct mine clearance with the involvement of its specialists and equipment, and to help train Ukrainian specialists, including mine clearance of reservoirs,” Tymoshenko noted.

As was earlier stated by the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs, in Ukraine, an area of about 270,000 square kilometers must be demined. Complete mine clearance will take 5-10 years.
