During his visit to Kyiv, Polish President Andrzej Duda delivered a speech in the Ukrainian parliament, becoming the first foreign leader since February 24, 2022, to address the Verkhovna Rada personally. At the beginning of his speech, Andrzej Duda quoted the first lines of the Ukrainian and Polish anthems and later on the lines from “The Stonemason” by Ivan Franko. People’s deputies of Ukraine interrupted the speech with applause many times.

He expressed enthusiasm for the Ukrainian military, mentioning the defenders of Mariupol. “You are the heroes of Ukraine, but also the heroes of Poland and the whole world… Ukraine has proved that it can oppose imperial Russia. Nobody believed, but it happened. The great success of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the Ukrainian government, and the entire Ukrainian people,” said Duda.
