German government approves export of Leopard 1 tanks

The German government has granted an export license for delivery of older Leopard 1 main battle tanks to Ukraine, government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit confirmed on Feb. 3, 2023, Deutsche Welle reports.
Earlier, Süddeutsche Zeitung reported that Berlin approved the German arms maker Rheinmetall’s plans to sell 88 of the older Leopards to Kyiv, once these are repaired, for a total cost of more than €100 million, but this information was not officially confirmed yet.
