Germany and France assured Ukraine of their support
After visiting the UK on Feb. 8, 2023, the President of Ukraine went to Paris for a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
During a joint press conference, Macron told Zelenskyy that France is “determined” to assist Ukraine in its war against Russia.
“We stand by Ukraine, determined to help it to victory. Ukraine can count on France and its allies to win the war; Russia should not and will not win the war,” Macron said.
Macron affirmed to Zelenskyy that France will continue to provide military support to Ukraine and Paris will “adapt and re-adapt” to Kyiv’s needs.
“Ukraine is defending itself heroically — with courage, bravery and perseverance — against brutal Russian aggression. Together with Emmanuel Macron, I personally assured Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Paris today: We stand close to Ukraine — as long as necessary,” Scholz said on Twitter after meeting with Zelenskyy.
