Germany gives green light for re-export of Leopard 2 tanks from partner countries, will deliver 14 tanks from own reserves

The German government has given a green light on Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2023, to partner countries for the re-export of German-made Leopard 2 tanks. Germany itself will also supply the Ukrainian Armed Forces with 14 Leopard 2 A6 tanks from personal reserves of the Bundeswehr armed forces, Chancellor Olaf Scholz said in a statement given to Bloomberg.

The decision comes after long weeks of mounting international pressure and intensive consultations with Germany’s international partners.
