IAEA demands a safety zone to be immediately established around the Zaporizhzhia NPP
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) urges the immediate establishment of a safety zone around the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant in its report on the mission’s findings. According to the 50-page document, the agency needs a security zone to manage the situation at the plant.
The research also suggests enhancing the working circumstances for Ukrainian station employees. The inspectors report finding severe damage at the plant, as well as Russian military personnel and apparatus, particularly in the turbine halls. It is highlighted that shelling has the potential to harm the station’s machinery and cause a radioactive material discharge that is unrestricted. A halt to all hostilities that might harm the station’s power supply systems was also demanded by the inspectors.
