ICC’s arrest warrant against Putin was a very clear signal. There should be no impunity. No one can stand above the law
Austria supports an arrest warrant against Russian President Putin issued by the International Criminal Court, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria Alexander Schallenberg said in an interview with Ukrinform. “Putin’s arrest warrant on charges of kidnapping more than 16,000 children from Ukraine to Russia was a very clear and correct signal. I welcome every step that helps the law triumph. There should be no impunity. No one can stand above the law, not even the president,” Schallenberg said.
Austria is also part of a core group of more than 30 states currently working to establish a special tribunal for the crime of aggression. “I hope that soon we will see results here and be able to finish what we started. Even if justice sometimes takes a long time, I’m sure it will prevail in the end,” Schallenberg told Ukrinform.
