Iceland recognizes Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide of the Ukrainian people

Iceland’s Parliament (Althingi) has recognized the famine inflicted by the Soviet regime on Ukraine in 1932-1933 — known as the Holodomor — as genocide of the Ukrainian people, Icelandic Minister for Foreign Affairs Þórdís Kolbrún Reykfjörð Gylfadóttir reported on Twitter.
“Today, Althingi recognised the man-made famine of the winter of 1932–1933 as genocide perpetrated by the totalitarian government in Moscow against the people of Ukraine,” she said.
The President of Ukraine thanked Iceland’s Parliament for the decision and said that it is a clear signal that such crimes do not go unpunished and have no statute of limitations.
