If we had reacted more strongly towards the Russian invasion of Crimea, the war wouldn’t happen

Prime Minister of Finland Sanna Marin called the world’s insufficiently strong reaction to the Russian invasion of Crimea in 2014 a big mistake. “Look back to 2014, when Crimea was invaded. We made a big mistake then — not to react more strongly. If we had acted and reacted more strongly towards Crimea, then the war wouldn’t happen,” Marin said during the Munich Security Conference. The Finnish prime minister stressed that the main lesson everyone should take from the current situation is not to be naive. “The war in Ukraine is not an issue for Europe; it is an issue for the whole world. And that’s because the war of values is going on,” Marin added.
