The Ukrainian language is the only state language in Ukraine that has a long history. Its formation began more than a thousand years ago.

For centuries, the Ukrainian language was oppressed by Russia. Speaking, studying, or writing in the Ukrainian language was forbidden. And those who opposed those prohibitions were persecuted, tortured, and even killed. But even under such circumstances, the Ukrainian language survived. Moreover, it has developed and enriched itself. As of today, it has about 256,000 words.

After hundreds of years of repression, to speak Ukrainian today is a conscious act of decolonization. Ukrainians are proud to speak Ukrainian!
