“Iron Town”: Ukrainian Railways reorganized train cars into a modern shelter complex for the homeless families of Irpin

Five new train compartment cars with air conditioners and bathrooms, a separate dining car, and a car with shower rooms — that is a convenient complex for temporary residence. It is located right on the street of Irpin. State railway operator Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) has been a country hero since the beginning of the war, constantly evacuating people from all over the country, delivering humanitarian aid, and more.

Now implementing this one-of-a-kind project for Ukraine, Ukrzaliznytsia provides shelter for 25 families whose houses were destroyed due to the Russia-Ukraine war.

‘Iron Town’ also has children’s and sports grounds, a barbecue area with gazebos, and a Starlink for high-speed internet connection. Three meals a day are provided free for the families. In addition, the residents can use bicycles and a library of Ukrainian publishers.
