“It is in the interests of the Poles that Ukrainians, defending their homeland, repel the Russian aggressor. It is in the interests of Poles that Russia does not win this war”
Polish President Andrzej Duda said in an interview with TVP Info on May 1, 2023, that helping Ukraine defend itself against Russian aggression is in the interests of the Poles themselves.
“It is in the interests of the Republic of Poland that Ukraine defends itself against Russian aggression. It is in the interests of the Poles that Ukrainians, defending their homeland, repel the Russian aggressor. It is in the interests of the Poles that Russia does not win this war. That is why we are helping Ukraine today. Hence these decisions, which are often difficult, to provide military assistance,” the President of Poland explained.
He emphasized that “the Poles even spent billions of zlotys out of their own pockets (…) to help their Ukrainian neighbors, hosting them in their homes, feeding them, giving them clothes, often shopping for them, supporting them, driving them in their cars.”
