Italian Senate agrees to extend military aid for Ukraine throughout 2023

The Italian Senate approved, with a 143-29 vote, a resolution endorsing arms shipments to Ukraine as agreed with NATO and European Union allies. — Reuters reports.

“There is no doubt that we all want peace, but this goal cannot be pursued without providing assistance to a country facing unilateral aggression in violation of international law,” Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto said as he addressed the Senate.

Earlier, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said that the European Union must remain united in helping Ukraine resist Russian aggression while stepping up efforts to promote a ceasefire.
