“It’s absolutely inevitable that the Ukrainians will eventually win, and I’ll tell you why. This is a war of independence, and wars on independence only really end one way”

In an interview with Sky News, former Prime Minister of the UK Boris Johnson said that it is “absolutely inevitable” that the Ukrainians will eventually win the war. He said he knew from the onset of the war the Ukrainians were “going to fight.”
“I think it’s absolutely inevitable that the Ukrainians will eventually win, and I’ll tell you why. This is a war of independence, and wars on independence only really end one way,” Johnson remarked. “And the crucial thing for us all who believe in this cause, who believe that the cause of Ukrainian freedom is all of our cause, is we just have to show strategic patience and continue to support them.”
Asked if he thought the war would be over in days when it was first launched earlier this year, Mr. Johnson said: “That was certainly the advice that we were getting.”
