Japan to allocate $3.5 billion to Ukraine’s budget in 2023

The Japanese government plans to provide Ukraine with $3.5 billion in direct budget support in 2023, the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine reports. These funds will help to finance priority social and humanitarian expenditures.
“Ukraine greatly appreciates Japan’s contribution to accelerating our victory in the Russian war of aggression through systematic financial and humanitarian aid and sanctions pressure on Russia. By holding the G7 Summit in 2023, Japan demonstrates leadership in keeping the Ukrainian issue on the international agenda and coordinating financial assistance to Ukraine,” Ukraine’s Finance Minister Serhii Marchenko said.
