Kalush Orchestra supported the captured “Azovstal” defenders
Kalush Orchestra recorded a video with words of support for the captured defenders of Azovstal and their families. The Association of Families of Defenders of Azovstal reported this in Telegram. “It is exactly one year today that some of our defenders from Azovstal still remain in captivity. We believe that soon every son, husband, wife, and mother will return to their relatives. We believe in our Victory,” the band’s appeal reads.
It is not the first time Kalush Orchestra had supported the Mariupol garrison — in May 2022, when the fighting at Azovstal reached the peak of the disaster, the performers called for the rescue of Mariupol and Azovstal in a live broadcast of Eurovision, despite the direct prohibition of such actions by the rules of the international contest.
