Kherson celebrates its 244 anniversary amid Russian occupation

On September 17, 2022, Ukraine’s southern city of Kherson is celebrating its 244th anniversary.

This year the city and its residents mark this date in the occupation. In the first weeks of the full-scale war, Kherson was occupied by Russian forces. Residents of the city went to the streets to protest against Russia’s invasion many times.

Today rallies in support of Kherson were held in Kyiv and Odesa. Residents of Kherson, who had to evacuate, came together to celebrate City Day with posters “Kherson is Ukraine!” and the flag of the city.

Kherson was and always will be Ukraine! Kherson will be liberated, and will be safe and happy again!
