Kyiv residents organize voluntary cleanup at the site of Russian shelling

On Jan. 4, 2023, Kyiv activists, volunteers and local residents gathered in the Protasiv Yar area in Kyiv to clean up the debris and rubble created as result of the Dec. 31 Russian rocket attack.

Nearly 100 people took part in cleaning the aftermath of the explosion and cleaned up the street in a day. Public utilities have also joined the action.

On Dec. 31, 2023, Russia launched an attack on Kyiv which damaged a hotel, the Protasiv Yar Park and several buildings of the Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University.
