Kyoto poet Madoka Maidzumi created a one-of-a-kind international project dedicated to Ukraine titled “Haiku for peace.” Serhiy Korsunskyi, Ukraine’s Ambassador to Japan, stated this on Facebook. “Haiku authors from 50 nations produced poetry devoted to Ukraine in 16 languages,” the diplomat remarked. Korsunkyi further noted that Maidzumi was particularly fascinated by the writings of Kharkiv poet Vladyslava Symonova, who composed a lot of poems while staying in the regularly shelled city. “Mrs. Maidzumi decided to publish Vladyslava’s book in Japan because she had over 600 haiku. This idea will have our full backing,” the Ambassador noticed.
