Latvia banned the broadcasting of all Russian TV channels until Russia stops the war

Latviaʼs National Electronic Media Council has banned all Russian TV channels from broadcasting in the country. Approximately 80 such channels were available to residents.
The decision is based on a new provision stipulating a ban on all TV channels registered in countries threatening other countries’ territorial integrity and independence.
The ban on Russian TV channels will remain effective until Russia ends its war against Ukraine and returns annexed Crimea to Ukraine. The NEPLP decision is effective as of June 9, 2022.
