Latvian athlete Kristens Putins changed his last name not to be associated with the Russian president

Latvian athlete Kristens Putins changed his last name to Rodi because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, local media reported.

“I don’t want my and my children’s names to be associated with a war criminal in the future,” he said.

“There has been an occupation. Russia has invaded Ukraine, and it is a big crime that I do not support. It is unacceptable that war could break out in Europe today,” the athlete added.
