Lead singer of U2 Bono painted a portrait of Volodymyr Zelenskyy for The Atlantic magazine cover

In June 2023, The Atlantic will publish an interview with Volodymyr Zelenskyy and a report from the front line. For this issue, U2 lead singer Bono painted a portrait of the Ukrainian President for the cover.
The report “The choice is between freedom and fear” was prepared by Anne Applebaum and Jeffrey Goldberg. As The Atlantic wrote on Twitter, the June cover was designed and drawn by Bono, who told Jeffrey Goldberg [editor-in-chief of The Atlantic magazine] that he sometimes redesigns and reimagines Atlantic covers on his iPad. “Like Anne, Bono is preoccupied with issues of freedom and dignity,” Goldberg writes in an editor’s note.
