“Liberty will never perish” Måneskin supported Ukraine at Coachella Festival

On April 17, 2022, the Italian band closed their performance at the Coachella Festival with a new song, Gasoline, which condemns the war unleashed by Russia in Ukraine.

Frontman Damiano David said from the stage, “We have fun and it’s right, it is the purpose why you are here. But sometimes we need to understand how bigger privilege to have a chance just to attend the gig, have fun, be careless and have nothing to think about. None of us thinks when he wakes up how many bombs have been launched on the city.”

He also quoted a speech by Charlie Chaplin from The Great Dictator: “To those who can hear me, I say — do not despair. The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed — the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. And so long as men die, liberty will never perish.”
