Lithuanian Minister of Culture Simonas Kairis proposed to introduce a “psychological quarantine” for Russian culture
According to the Delfi portal, Minister of Culture of Lithuania Simonas Kairis said that during the war in Ukraine, “we need to take a break” from the works of Russian culture.
“First, we must hear what the Minister of Culture of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko recently said. He expressed hope that, at least for the time of war, we should refrain from showing [Russian] classical works in Europe. This is a fairly honest position,” Kairis said.
“This message is not primarily aimed at Lithuania. There are countries in Europe where we see that certain works are returning to the repertoires… But there is a war, here our role should be active,” he stressed.
