Love that is stronger than the horror of war: a nurse who lost her legs and four fingers to the explosion in the east of Ukraine got married in a hospital

23-year-old nurse Oksana and her husband is from Lysychansk — a hot spot in the east of Ukraine. A mine exploded near Oksana in late March 2022. She managed to turn around and warn her [at that moment] civilian husband Viktor of the danger. He didn’t get injured, but Oksana lost both legs and four fingers.
At the end of April 2022, an evacuation train brought her to Lviv. She married Viktor right in the hospital ward in the Surgery Center of the First Medical Association of Lviv. Viktor was carrying Oksana in his hands during the first wedding dance. He promised to carry his wife as much as needed until the prosthesis installation. The couple has been together for six years and has two children.
