March 08, 2022
Luxury brands such as France’s Chanel and Louis Vuitton have announced they are suspending operations in Russia, adding to the economic isolation since it invaded Ukraine. LVMH, the owner of the Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior brands, told Reuters it would close its 124 boutiques in Russia but continue to pay the salaries of its 3,500 employees in the country. L’Oreal, LVMH, and Kering have all pledged financial support to help Ukrainian refugees, and Richemont said it was initiating a “significant donation to Medecins Sans Frontieres.”
